When meeting together is not available, we gather in spirit, reminding one another that what we are a part of is bigger than the part we play. We may temporarily be apart, but we can still lean in – to worship, pray, and hear from God as friends + family. We continue to champion the idea that church does not exist in a building – life change happens when we invite Jesus and others in.

As we navigate the current COVID-19 situation, it is our desire to revive hearts, restore hope, revitalize culture, and bring Jesus and His Church to the front and center of everyday life. Our hope is that these resources will equip you to lead your friends + family into a meaningful time of worship, and that we would share a sense of belonging that extends beyond the walls of our church. We would like to invite our friends + family to host small gatherings throughout our community that create irresistible environments that change people’s perception of God by changing their perception of church.

We want to take safe steps to stay connected in healthy ways. If you’ve opted to gather with your Life Group, your Serve Team, or choose to view online messages with a small circle of friends, please remember to follow the current best practices to stop the spread of the virus.

  • Do not gather with others if you are sick, might be sick, or have any reason to think you have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • Consider possibilities for gathering outside. There’s room for creativity here!
  • Make sure shared surfaces are disinfected before and after each visit with friends + family.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly (more than 20 seconds) upon arrival and upon returning home.
  • Serve food and drink individually, and with washed hands.
  • Wash hands after coughing, touching your face, and before and after eating.
  • Be aware of maintaining healthy physical distance between people. Meaning please try not to shake hands, high five, or hug.

When attending together from wherever you are, we want to help make this an irresistible Sunday experience. Jesus and his message were irresistible regardless of where he met with others. To help make this happen, we’ll be spending time in worship, learning from the Word, praying, and enjoying spending time together.

It’s easy to only think of worship as a time to sing with a band at church. At Shoreline, we believe that worship happens when we respond to all that God is with all that we are. The good news is we can do this anywhere! Below are a few suggestions for worshipping with your friends + family this week, whether alone or with a group:

  • Love to sing or play an instrument? Consider leading worship through song and spend some time singing together, or just worship your guts out along with our Shoreline Spotify playlist.
  • Check out the worship setlist that was prayerfully selected and recorded by Shoreline’s worship team for your online church experience.

Legacy is a huge part of who we are, and we know that our Shoreline families make up a large part of our church. If you would like to keep your Sunday rhythm consistent with what your kids experience at Shoreline, here are a few simple suggestions of what you can do with them during this time:

  • Play Time: In a time of high anxiety and stress, play is an easy, fun way for kids to feel relief, safe and at ease. You could organize a group game or have free play. You could make arts and crafts or color. This time to connect and play can be healing and helpful for all members of the family to slow down and connect around what matters.
  • Prayer Time: Spend some time together praying for peace and health in our world. This is a great time to remind the kids that God is a good Father, He is strong, a Way Maker where the future is uncertain, and He loves all His kids.
  • Worship: This is an opportunity for your kids to dance, sing, and share their joy. Listen in on one of our favorite playlists for kids, and maybe even learn some sweet new dance moves.
  • Teaching: Our Shoreline Kids team is preparing material each week that complements the curriculum they know and love from Sunday mornings. For Shoreline Kids Jr., we recommend downloading the Bible App for Kids and digging in to the downloadable resources to help your younger kids discover who Jesus is and who he has made them to be.

Shoreliners are some of the most generous people we know! Take a few minutes to practice generosity this week. Actively push back against any feeling of scarcity or fear by trusting God to meet your needs and the needs of those around you. You can give online to continue to love and serve others in our community and around the world with no strings attached.

Watch this week’s message from Pastor Graeme. Take notes and lean in! After listening, discuss the following questions with a loved one or journal in a quiet moment.

  • Talk about your WINS with somebody. How did you arrive at them?
    • Character
    • Family
    • Work
    • Home
  • Do you feel technology is bettering your life or making it more difficult to be the person you want to be? Explain.
  • What is a decision you can make regarding technology that makes a lot of other decisions easier or problems non-issues.

To wrap up, spend a few minutes in prayer. Begin with a couple minutes in silence, listening for what God might have to say to you in this moment, and jot it down! Share with someone later or tell someone near you. Have a practical need or prayer request? Shoreline Care and Shoreline Prayer teams are ready to connect with you, too.

Stay in touch with us throughout the week on Facebook and Instagram. If you’re new around here, fill out an online Connect Card so we can get to know you better.
